CASABLANCA RETURNS TO THE BIG SCREEN AT SELECTED UK CINEMA’S FOR VALENTINES DAY

Casablanca will be back in cinemas for special Valentine’s Day screenings at 63 Cineworld sites around the UK. The film has been digitally restored and will be screened via digital cinema and new 35mm prints.

World War II Morocco springs to life in Michael Curtiz’s classic love story. Colourful characters abound in Casablanca, a waiting room for Europeans trying to escape Hitler’s war-torn Europe. HUMPHREY BOGART plays Rick Blaine, a cynical but good-hearted American whose café is the gathering place for everyone from the French Police to the black market to the Nazis. When his long-lost love, Ilsa (INGRID BERGMAN), surfaces in Casablanca with her Resistance leader husband, Victor Laszlo (PAUL HENREID), Rick is pulled into both a love triangle and a web of political intrigue. Ilsa and Victor need to escape from Casablanca, and Rick may be the only one who can help them.

Nominated for eight Oscars at the 1944 Academy Awards, the film won three: best picture, best director and best screenplay. It regularly features at the top of all time best movie lists.

Casablanca, directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre and Dooley Wilson will be opening at Curzon Soho/Curzon Mayfair and nationwide at Cineworld cinema’s from 14th February. The film has been digitally restored and will be screened via digital cinema and brand new 35mm prints.

Casablanca is being released through Park Circus, the UK’s only commercial film distributor specialising in the acquisition and distribution of classic films for theatrical release. The film is being released in partnership with TCM.

Alan Musa TCM VP and Channel Manager said -
“TCM is delighted to be sponsoring the return of arguably the most famous classic film of all time, Casablanca, to cinema screens around the UK. It is great to work alongside Park Circus, which shares our passion for celebrating the great heritage of Hollywood’s Golden Age, and introduce this great film to a whole new generation of film-goers.”
